Calvert Sails, founded in 1976, had been a member of the Halsey Lidgard Sailmakers in 2004.
In 2006, Calvert Sails became part of the UK/Halsey Sails group as a multihull specialist.

For various reasons, Dave Calvert and Operations manager, Ric Arra, have chosen to split from the UK/Halsey group, going back to an independent loft once again.
"We feel that going back to the more hands on approach, will give our customers better customer service and personal attention.
I will be available personally, to answer questions and consulting for multihull as well as other sail related issues."
Calvert Sails now has over 31 years experience designing and building performance and cruising multihull sails. This, along with the years of personal attention to details, has made Calvert Sails a premier source for all multihull sail needs.
Dave Calvert can often be found at the major multihull racing events in the US and Caribbean. Over the last several years, he has skippered or crewed on various multihulls to win 12 National Championships. He has been involved in boat building as a designer and consultant for Osborn Boats, and cruised and raced, Green Flash, his own Osborn 42 catamaran, for five years.
For two years, from 2001 to 2003, Dave Calvert was perminate crew on Steve Fossett's 125 ft. catamaran, PlayStation. During this period he sailed with Fossett, as a driver, setting 5 world records including both trans Atlantic and the 24 hour speed records.

The design and sales offices of Calvert Sails will be moved to St. Petersburg Florida. This offices will be located in the large, modern sailmaking facility, Sail Technologies.

The principal at Sail Technologies is Tom Barry. Tom began building high-end sails at the age of 16 for Hood Sails. In 1995 Tom became a member of the UK Sails group. Over the past 12 yrs, with hard work and insightful business decisions the operation has continue to grow in both size and in technology. Tom, split with UK two years ago and started Sail Technologies.

Sail Technologies stepped out of the world of franchised sail labels to strike out in a new direction. With recent advances in commercially available three dimensional sail design and virtual wind tunnel software, the need for being anchored to a large label has passed. The new organization is considered in the Sailmaking industry as a specialty shop for assembling various unique and/or difficult sail construction projects, these services are offered to a select number of other sailmakers. Sail Tech has a large facility based in St. Petersburg, Fl. It is completely re-equipped with the latest in design and flow software, cad-cam equipment, in house custom "string" lamination and new computer & pneumatic controlled long arm sewing machines.
